Yesterday was the one year anniversary of the I 35 W bridge collapse in Minnepaolis MN

One year ago yesterday 13 people died and 145 were injured by the collapse of the Interstate 35 W bridge in Minneapolis MN. That incident was on every news channel for several days following the bridges collapse. We saw divers going under the water in the river to llok for sunken cars and people that may have drowned. It was a very tragic scene.

I just couldn't imagine the horror of anyone that was in the midst of this when it happened. Could you imagine your car or truck all of a sudden dropping 20 or so feet, crashing into other vehicles and being thrown around like ping pong balls. Some were lucky and their vehicles stayed on the bridge and kept them safe. Others were trapped and crushed in vehicles without a chance. Some were swept into the river to drown. That was awful and I just can't imagine what the people involved went through and probably still go through today. Incidents like this can cause psychological impairments and shocks that may never fully go away for some of these people. Some of the survivors may never want to cross a bridge again in their car or at all - and I don't blame them.

Many area churches had special services yesterday to remeber those whose lives were lost and to remember the sorrow and the tragedy. Afterwords there were remembrances and memorials at nearby Gold Medal Park and at the new bridge. There the names of all the dead were read:

Patrick Holmes, Artemio Trinidad-Mena, Paul Eickstadt, Sherry Engebretsen, Julia Blackhawk, Peter Hausmann, Sadiya Sahal, Hanna Sahal, Richard Chit, Vera Peck, Scott Sathers and Greg Jolstad.

This was followed by a moment of silence. Let's not forget those whom died or were injured at the I 35W bridge collapse as this could have easily happened to anyone who passed over that bridge that day. This was a tragedy, and hopefully we can learn from this and better construct our bridges and roadways and make sure we also take better care of them so this doesn't happen again to anyone else. Whatever your religion may be, please say a prayer for those that died and were injured in the I-35W bridge collapse and for their family members so that they may gain comfort and strength and heal from this tragic experience. As you will notice, there are no links, ads, etc... listed in this post and there won't be as we do not believe it is right to profit off someone else's tragedy.

I don't know if there is a donation fund or website setup to help those involved in this tragedy. If someone knows of this please post the link or url to it in the comments below and I will gladly add that link after checking it out to make sure it is legitimate (I just got a call from scammers today claiming to be my local fire department and seeking donations - called the fire department and they stated they were not calling people and soliciting donations - unbelievable how low sammers will go), so I just want to make sure it is legitimate and then I will post it for everyone to see.
